Announcement from Nintendo: “Broken Wii U consoles will not be repaired”

Ana sayfa / News

Last May, Nintendo announced that once the spare parts for the Wii U were depleted, repair and replacement services would be discontinued.

The Japanese gaming giant has now made a new announcement, stating that they no longer have any spare parts for the Nintendo Wii U, which was released in 2012, and that they will no longer provide any repair services.

Nintendo has officially announced the end of repair services for the Wii U console, which was released in 2012. In May of last year, Nintendo’s Japanese support service announced that repairs for the Wii U would cease once the current inventory of parts was exhausted. Now, a year later, an update on the company’s website has officially declared the end of this service.

Nintendo’s official statement includes the following:

“Due to the depletion of necessary parts for repairs, we will no longer accept repair requests for Wii U consoles and peripherals as of July 3, 2024.”

Nintendo is cautious about artificial intelligence!

Nintendo's CEO explained why the company is cautious about artificial intelligence. Is AI killing creativity?

This decision affects not only the console but also Wii U peripherals and accessories. In fact, the brand had already discontinued Wii U repair services in North America and other regions years ago, so this change does not impact those areas.

This development follows the company’s earlier decision this year to completely shut down online servers for the Wii U and 3DS. According to Nintendo’s official data, the Wii U reached over 13 million sales and set a record with over 100 million game sales.

What are your thoughts on this development? Do you think Nintendo’s decision to discontinue repair services is the right one? Don’t forget to share your opinions with us in the comments and on our social media accounts.
